Illustration Process

Currently creating with iPad, Apple Pencil, Procreate, and Adobe Draw

Stage 1: Ideation

Sometimes inspiration doesn’t immediately strike.

Stage 2: Sketching

Once ideas start coming to me I start rough sketching.

  • Start with quickly/roughly laying down the ideas I have in my head

  • Next I’ll open a new layer and trace over my rough sketches to prep them to be traced in Illustrator for vector images.

Stage 3: Trace in Adobe Illustrator

I currently vectorize my illustrations to make them more versatile, flexible and easy to use for our team. Having them be easy scalable is a priority. This also means I don’t spend too much time perfecting my sketches since I can easily fix any proportions or awkward lines in Illustrator.

Stage 4: Check for consistency and deliver final assets

When creating illustrations that belong to the same group it’s important to make sure they’re all the same size with the same line weight (if applicable).
